Derlite has its beginnings in Cornwall, United Kingdom. This company, established in 1969, manufactured specialist igniters (spark electrodes) using material sourced in the United Kingdom. In 2002 the business was relocated to Thailand.

In 2005 the gas ignition systems division of Kigass Electronics, also based in the UK, was added. As well as spark electrodes, Kigass has over a number of years, developed and produced electronic spark generators together with other electronic gas sensing equipment. This operation was transferred to Thailand and merged with Derlite during 2006.

Also in 2006 Derlite began manufacturing specialist gas boiler and heater electrodes on behalf of Gasignition Ltd a UK company previously known as Buccleuch Engineering of Scotland.

Gasignition Ltd was appointed distributor for Derlite products throughout the United Kingdom and Europe in 2007.
